Shanghai 1.2 is an exercise in studying possible shapes for a building, as if the building were a reed which prefers to bend in the wind rather than impassively resist its force. It could be compared to a part which has broken away from a prism with as many sides as necessary. It uses even the slightest breeze to defend itself against the parallelogram which is menacing its existence, the quadrilateral shape it has been lumbered with, as what it really wants to do is transform itself into a sensual body.
